More info

Sugrue-Pierre is the personal project of celebrated English sparkling winemaker Dermot Sugrue. Sugrue has been the winemaker behind many of England's best sparkling wines over the last 10 years. Previously the winemaker at Nyetimber, he left in 2006 to establish the Wiston Estate Winery with the Gorings of West Sussex. The same year he also planted a 1 hectare vineyard in Storrington which has been in full production since 2009.

The start of the 2011 season was remarkable as perfect spring weather allowed unusually unifrom shoot growth and large healthy inflorescences. However, cold and windy weather during flowering caused uneven fruit set and variable berry size which persisted throughout July and August.Luckily we managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat with an astonishing heatwave in September (29C on 29th September 2011) and brought home an atypically ripe crop. Tiny yields, great concentration and a similar blend to the 2009 and 2010.
