More info

The grapes are sourced from Dona Paula's estate owned vineyard, Finca el Alto in Ugarteche, Lujan de Cuyo. The vineyard is situated at 1,050 metres above sea level where the soil is nutrient-poor clay. The climate is characterised by warm days and cool nights with an average temperature variation of 14°C, this creates a long ripening period and helps to concentrate the flavours in the berries, while retaining balancing acidity. The vines are trained using the espalier trellis system and drip irrigation is used. The vineyard has always been managed using sustainable practices.

The grapes were harvested from mid-March to late March. Upon arrival at the winery they were destemmed and gently crushed. Cool pre-fermentation maceration was carried out to preserve the primary aromas, followed by traditional fermentation. Post-fermentation maceration followed lasting between 10 and 15 days to extract the desired level of flavour, colour and structure. The wine then went through malolactic fermentation, prior to being bottled.
