Pommard Les Vignots Rene Monnier is a deliciously robust red burgundy. Made very traditionally and aged in oak barrels, the wine shows violet, cherry and plum aromas, with grainy tannins and a great finish; a perfect match for lamb or big game dishes.

Saint Aubin Premier Cru Charmois, from Marc Morey, is an outstanding value top quality white burgundy, from the small village of Saint-Aubin in the hills west of Puligny and Chassagne Montrachet. It shows all the buttery, floral minerality of its esteemed neighbours, with a slightly lighter body, which betrays its slightly higher altitude vineyards.
A complex nose of almond and fresh apricot accompanied by vanilla and butterscotch notes. The wine is full bodied with apricot dominating the fresh fruit palate. The finish is buttery with subtle hints of toasty oak.
Volnay Premier Cru Clos des Chenes, from Domaine Rene Monnier, is a rich, silky Volnay, aged for 16 months in oak - of which one third is new. The wine shows wonderfully pure Pinot aromas of cherries and spice, with overtones of discreet oak.
A stunning 1er Cru Puligny Montrachet, which showcases a wonderful purity and depth of fresh and dried fruits, complemented by hints of hazelnut and delicate spice. Rich, mineral-laden and concentrated on the palate, this is beautifully balanced with a very long finish.
