San Silvestro's Patres Barolo 2016 wins a platinum medal and 97 pts at the 2020 Decanter World Wine Awards.
The judges wrote: "Ripe and opulent cherry nose. Rich and rounded, with impressive depth of fruit and power. This has broad shoulders but without excessive extraction or blowsiness; hard to fault. Who wouldn't reel with pleasure when drinking this? You just want more."
Despite the difficult year due to the pandemic, the Decanter team still managed to organize the tasting that involves judges from around the world, including Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers, many of whom are the foremost experts in their field. Medal categories correspond to the 100-point scoring system used by Decanter and many top wine critics around the world. Platinum medals are awarded to Gold winners that are re-tasted by a panel consisting of Co-Chairs and Regional Chairs and obtain at least 97 points/100.
