Pinot Bianco is part of the Burgundian Pinot family and is related to Pinot Grigio and the principal grape of the family, Pinot Noir. Pinot Bianco Moriz feels fresh and rich yet dry, with a greenish yellow to light yellow colour and light scents of green apple. It shows a complex nutty flavour and hints of green leaves.
Cantina Tramin, founded in 1898, has 280 member winegrowers who follow its strict directives on the cultivation of the vines and covers 230 hectares of vineyards situated on the sunny slopes at an altitude of 250-700m above sea level. These vineyards are an integral part of the enchanting and picturesque landscape of the Alto-Adige region of northern Italy.
In 2011 Tramin gained the "double Stella". This is given to a winery for achieving the prestigious "3 Bicchieri" 20 times and is awarded by the Gambero Rosso.
Moritz Pinot Bianco is sourced from vineyards planted between 250 and 550 meters in the calcareous clay and gravel soils common to the area of Sella near Tramin.
The grapes for this wine were harvested in small bins and then gently pressed off to steel tanks where the must was allowed to ferment at controlled temperature of 19C without malolactic fermentation.
