Saumur Brut Cuvée Louis St. Croix NV is a delicious traditional method sparkler; a fantastic value alternative to the more expensive wines of Champagne. Made in the same way as champagne, sparkling Saumur is based on the Chenin Blanc grape, noted for its fine acidity, delicate bubbles and full apply and citrus flavours.
The grapes for this fine bubbly are hand picked from the best vineyards of the Saumur appellation. The blend is 70% Chenin Blanc, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Chardonnay. Once the first fermentation is complete, the wine then undergoes its second fermentation in bottle by the méthode traditionnelle, as in Champagne. It then remains on its lees for a minimum period of 15 months - the same as in Champagne - to develop a good structure and complex aromas.
