Château Les Sapins de Gaillou Bordeaux 2009 is a structured, ripe claret from the exceptional 2009 vintage. A blend of 45% Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon, with 55% Merlot, gives a wine with earthy, slightly smoky aromas of blackcurrant and plum.
Once the hysteria surrounding the release of the 2009 Grand Crus had died down (and was replaced by the rather over-shadowed 2010 en primeur campaign), the 2009s from the petits châteaux began to emerge. The best of these - like that from the small 10 hectare Château Les Sapins de Gaillou - are ripe, structured and excellent value wines; their reasonable prices in stark contrast to those fetched by the more famous estates in the same year.
