Château Cazal Viel Syrah Rosé 2010 is a full-flavoured dry rosé from the vineyards around Saint-Chinian in the Languedoc. Winemaker Laurent Miquel's faher was one of the area's first vignerons to focus on the Syrah grape, which is the estate's speciality. This rosé shows ripe, crunchy summer fruit flavours, with good body, crisp acidity and a lingering finish.

Key facts

The Miquel family have been making wines in Saint-Chinian, in the Languedoc, since the French Revolution. The estate specialises in Viognier (of which it owns 20 hectares of vines) and Syrah (60 hectares). The estate's mission is to make "the ultimate Saint-Chinian", but its wines from the Pays d'Oc are some of the most affordable, classy offerings from this exciting, often under-valued, region.
