Domaine des Pourthie Merlot 2010 is a fresh, unoaked red wine from the southern Languedoc, near Agde. It is a fleshy, mouth-filling wine, which shows juicy plum fruit on a long, ripe finish.

Key facts

Domaine de Pourthié is an estate of 60 hectares, situated near Agde in France, a few kilometres from the Mediterranean. It is now in the hands of the fourth generation of the Pourthié family.

The vineyards are located on a ridge formed during the Ice Age, where the soils are gravelly clay and limestone. The Mediterranean warmth and sea breezes combined with the terroir, help to ripen the grapes harmoniously and maximise their aromas.

The winery has recently been updated with modern equipment, leading to more sophisticated methods of vinification. The wines are classically styled Languedoc wines.
