Ripa delle Mandorle from Castello Vicchiomaggio won a Silver Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2011, and a Bronze at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2011 - Its succulent red fruit flavours, with hints of herbs and cigar box spice, give a subtle, juicy and eminently drinkable Super-Tuscan.
Castello Vicchiomaggio is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, just 3 Km from the ancient village of Greve in Chianti, 18 Km from Florence and 38 Km from Siena. This is an elegant “Super Tuscan” wine in which Sangiovese predominates. The presence of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend makes this wine a good candidate for ageing, but it can also be drunk immediately.
The wine's impressive label, reproducing a Tuscan landscape, is by Nino Tirinnanzi, a renowned local artist.
